An end game, though, is approaching. Antony is seeking to force a move to Old Trafford through and failed to report for training earlier this week before being forced back as Ajax were reportedly poised to fine him €50,0000 for each day he missed.

Nevertheless, the move is still very much live, with Man Utd still making manoeuvres in a bid to land their man.

Latest Antony rumours

The Manchester Evening News reports that Man Utd remain “confident” of landing the attacker for a fee that will be near €100 million, including bonuses.

Moreover, while it reports that any interest in Cody Gakpo was simply generated in a bid to pressure Ajax to sell Antony. However, the possibility of re-signing Memphis Depay from Barcelona remains live.

Meanwhile, it has been reported by Nicolo Schira that Antony has agreed personal terms already with the Old Trafford side. He will sign a contract that runs until 2027.

De Telegraaf, though, have been the most reliable source of Antony updates throughout the summer. It reports that fresh talks were held between the player and the club on Friday morning with an aim to break the impasse that this transfer saga has generated.

After all, Antony was not involved for Ajax in their 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam last Sunday. Have already lost so many key players from last season’s Eredivisie-winning squad, they can scarcely afford to lose their remaining star.

Progress in the Antony deal is being made by Man Utd, but with Ajax desperate to hold firm, it appears that it will take a huge bid for the Amsterdam club to release a player under contract until 2025.
