Who is Luis Sinisterra? The Colombian hotshot on Arsenal's wishlist

Arsenal are busy building a competitive squad under Mikel Arteta, with the Gunners set to spend more money this summer on reinforcements.

It has been a tough period at Arsenal over the last few years following the departure of Arsene Wenger, but Arteta has put the club in a great position to return to the Champions League due to their current position in the top four.

Though a central midfielder and a centre-forward will be prioritised in summer recruitment, Arsenal have also been looking at a talented winger in the form of Luis Sinisstera.

The Colombian is attracting interest from some of Europe's elite, so what kind of player is he?

What position does Luis Sinisterra play in?

Sinisterra plays as a winger on the left flank. He can feature as part of a 4-2-3-1 or on the left of a 4-3-3.

How good is Luis Sinisterra?

Sinisterra started his career with Once Caldas in Colombia before making the move to Colombia with Feyenoord in 2018.

He has been with the Dutch side a while now and has performed at an admirable level, with nine goal contributions in the Eredivisie in both the 2019/20 season and the 2020/21 season.

The reason he has been thrust into the transfer spotlight is due to his exploits in the current campaign, though, as he has taken his performances to another level.

In 38 appearances in all competitions, he has scored 18 goals and recorded 11 assists.

Though he plays on the left wing, Sinisterra is in the mould of a modern wide forward in that he likes to cut inside on his right foot.

He can go down the left, but his first thought is usually to get into the middle and get a shot away with his stronger right foot.

He has a superb command of the ball and outstanding strength, making it difficult for defenders to get close, while he has a trick or two in his locker also.

Feyenoord assistant John de Wolf has previously lavished praise on the Colombian, telling de Volkskrant:

"A very pleasant person, a cheerful boy with exceptional qualities.

"I sometimes see him without a shirt. Then I think: 'I don’t want to run into that'

"He can make something out of nothing. He has been involved in more than half of the goals in 100 games for Feyenoord. He is a pearl and can become much more dominant."

What clubs are interested in Luis Sinisterra?

Corriere dello Sport reports that Napoli are actually leading the race for his signature, while Atletico Madrid and Leverkusen are also interested.

However, the report mentions that Arsenal are already planning to take a bid, and that the Gunners have been encouraged by the fact that Sinisterra has started taking English lessons.
