Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick is wasting no time at all in chipping away at the squad he inherited from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The German tactician has been tasked with turning the Old Trafford club’s fortunes around and before he can start bringing in new signings, Rangnick will apparently be forced to cut the dead wood from his squad.

As such, Man Utd are set to have a busy end to the January transfer window with no less than five first team players looking set to leave the club. But who looks destined to leave the Premier League giants and where will they go?

Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial is all but confirmed as a Sevilla player, following pictures online of the Man Utd player arriving in Spain ahead of his move.

Although the Old Trafford club had hoped to sell Martial for his full worth, it seems as though they’ve accepted a loan deal for the remainder of the season with no further clauses to buy the French winger.

Jesse Lingard

Another forward that looks set to leave Old Trafford before the January window draws to a close is Jesse Lingard. The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle and Everton and it seems as though the former have put together an enticing offer.

Whether it be a £10 million transfer signing or a loan deal that includes an obligation to pay his full Man Utd salary, Lingard now looks set to be playing the rest of his football at St James’ Park this season.

Donny van de Beek

Few players will be as desperate to depart Man Utd this month as much as Donny van de Beek and it seems as though the Netherland’s international may finally have his request granted.

According to the Guardian, Valencia and Crystal Palace have made offers to loan the playmaker for the remainder of the season and while Rangnick is reluctant to let the midfielder join another Premier League side, it seems certain that Van de Beek will depart in one form or another.

Eric Bailly

Despite signing a new contract last year to extend his deal with the club, Eric Bailly has struggled for game time this season at Man Utd due to injury and the arrival of new defenders to the club.

As such, a January loan deal has now been touted, with Foot Mercato suggesting that Milan are desperate to sign the central defender on loan for the remainder of the season to help cover for the injured Simon Kjaer.

Alex Telles

Although Alex Telles only made the move to Man Utd in 2020, the Brazilian full-back has struggled to nail down a starting role at the club and could be sold in this transfer window.

According to L’Interista, the Old Trafford side have set their asking price for the defender at £13 million, with interest apparently coming from both Barcelona and Inter. But will he be sold before the January window comes to a close?
