Barcelona are bracing themselves for a massive summer in the transfer market next year, with Erling Haaland, Paul Pogba and Dani Olmo all in their sights.

It has been a miserable time for Barca so far this season, with a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week underlining how far they have fallen.

Despite previous bullishness from Joan Laporta, their transfer market was played out largely in the bargain basement, with only Emerson Royal picked up for a fee – and even then he was quickly shunted out to Tottenham for a profit.

The club’s financial woes are well known, and yet despite this Mundo Deportivo suggests that they are readying a stunning triple swoop for Haaland, a bargain due to his release clause but a player who will demand an enormous wage, Pogba, who will be on similarly huge money even if he leaves Manchester United at the end of his contract, and Olmo.

Can Barcelona complete this stunning summer?

Unless there is a dramatic shift in the club’s financial position, it seems impossible that such players will be joining Barcelona.

Laporta has previously admitted that the club’s financial situation is worse than he thought it was, so the prospect of signing Haaland and Pogba, two players whose wages will cost around €70 million per year, seems improbable.

Indeed, with the likes of Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba having agreed to cut their wages already, the arrival of such lavishly paid stars would likely be divisive in the locker room.

There is a greater likelihood that they might be able to snap up RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo, who was with the club’s youth system and is reportedly eager to return. Indeed, he reportedly had agreed terms with Barcelona before the close of the summer transfer window only for the deal to collapse.
