Jeremy Doku’s performance for Belgium against Italy caught the eye, despite the 2-1 defeat that Roberto Martinez’s side suffered in the Euro 2020 quarter-final.

A combination of Doku’s speed, daring and close control led to him quickly trending on social media, with fans of numerous teams expressing the feeling that they would love to see the 19-year-old Rennes star one day turn out in their colours.

The young Belgian’s statistics were also impressive. In completing eight dribbles against the stern Italy defence, he posted two more than any other player in a single game at Euro 2020.

Even more impressively, it was more than any teenager had managed at any World Cup or European Championship covered by Opta’s statistics.

He was the most fouled player in the game, too, winning the penalty from which Romelu Lukaku gave Belgium hope in the late stages of the first half.

Rennes signed Doku from Anderlecht in 2020 for €26 million – but what is he worth now?

What is Jeremy Doku worth?

Liverpool have long been associated with a move for Jeremy Doku, with the Anfield side having been linked with a move for him when he was 15 along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Ajax and PSV.

It should be stressed that no deal could have been completed until his 16th birthday, but the interest that Liverpool showed early on has continued.

Doku has consciously elected to take his career step by step, which is part of the reason he is now with Rennes, who also boast promising midfielder Eduardo Camavinga among their ranks.

And the Ligue 1 side have long expected their winger to explode onto the scene as he did on Friday.

If there’s an offer of €100m, we’ll consider it
- Rennes president Nicolas Holveck

“Looking at his potential, it’s possible that he will be solicited with offers this summer, but it’s clear that he’ll be with us next season,” Rennes president Nicolas Holveck told the media before Euro 2020.

“If there’s an offer of €100m, we’ll consider it.”

Meanwhile, FootballTransfers’ algorithm values Doku at €31.7m. This makes him the 10th most valuable teenager in the world.

Rennes, meanwhile, are in a position of strength with regards this deal. While French football is in a financial crisis, they are owned by Francois-Henri Pinault, who has a net worth of over $40 billion.

How is FootballTransfers’ valuation calculated?

Jeremy Doku’s FootballTransfers valuation has been calculated using an algorithm that is powered by a variety of factors that include both the player’s on-field performance and those circumstances surrounding him away from the park, too.

Primarily, the transfer fee is calculated by the player’s ability. He is given a rating that is generated by using a massive array of data points. Along with the player’s age, this also helps to calculate the player’s future potential, too.

Furthermore, external circumstances are taken into account. In Doku’s case, this includes a contract that runs until 2025, giving the club all the bargaining power in a deal over the next two years.

If Doku were to join a bigger club, such as Liverpool, his value would likely increase.
