Lionel Messi, Man City v PSG, 2021-22

Lionel Messi is the most highly-valued player over the age of 30 in world football.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar recently won a record seventh Ballon d'Or and is currently in the first season of his career which has not been spent in Spain with Barcelona.

Though critics questioned whether Messi actually deserved that individual award, he unquestionably remains one of the greatest players in the world despite his advancing years.

At 34 years old, he still holds a value of €57m.

FootballTransfers' transfer valuations are calculated in collaboration with SciSports, a world-leading football analytics agency that assesses the relative transfer valuations of over 60,000 professional footballers worldwide. SciSports use multiple data points including current and potential ability, contract length, form, age, and other crucial factors.

REVEALED: The world's most valuable footballers

The player that many fans and pundits feel should have won the Ballon d'Or is Robert Lewandowski, and he comes second to Messi in this list also as he is valued at €48m.

Messi's Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Georginio Wijnaldum is in third at €40m, with the Dutchman's value rising following his lucrative free transfer from Liverpool in the summer.

In fourth is Lazio hitman Ciro Immobile, valued at €40m also.

Toni Kroos has been one of the best midfielders in the world for a decade now and still retains a status as a key player for Real Madrid. He is valued at €35m.

His compatriot Ilkay Gundogan is in sixth, valued at €34m.

Another Manchester City star is in seventh, with Kyle Walker valued at €34m.

No surprise to see Cristiano Ronaldo on our list, valued at €32m. The Portuguese superstar isn't higher simply due to is age as he only has a few years left at the top level and will likely not complete another high value transfer.

Legendary Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller is ninth with a value of €31.

Miralem Pjanic may be unwanted at Barcelona, but they still have a valuable player on their books at €30m.
