Chelsea interest in Joao Pedro confirmed

Chelsea are closely tracking Brighton forward Joao Pedro, Romano says, but the Blues’ have yet to make a solid approach for the striker. He does say, however, that the 23-year-old is a viable option at Stamford Bridge, with a summer deal likely.

He explains on his YouTube channel: “Joao Pedro is expected to leave Brighton in the summer transfer window. He’s open to leaving. Newcastle wanted to sign Joao Pedro before he joined Brighton. He remains a player on the list of the recruitment team. They’ve made contact with Brighton but there’s still no agreement.

“I can confirm that Joao Pedro is on Chelsea’s list. He’s appreciated by Chelsea and highly rated by Chelsea. They see him as an interesting option. He’s got big potential, knows the league and can be a perfect addition to the squad. There are no negotiations, but for sure, Joao Pedro is a name on Chelsea’s list.

“On Hugo Ekitike, Chelsea made the call almost three weeks ago. Eintracht Frankfurt asked for €100 million, which was too much for Chelsea. So Joao Pedro is now one of the options. But let’s see want will happen because Newcastle are working club-to-club with Brighton.”

Man Utd make Sancho decision

Manchester United are set to be patient over the future of Jadon Sancho. Although they have no interest in retaining the winger after his loan move at Chelsea, they want to secure a good transfer fee for the player, Romano says.

“The decision made on the Jadon Sancho situation is to wait. Not to accept loan proposals but to give priority to a permanent transfer for him. The very clear idea is to make money,” Romano confirmed.

“He returned from Chelsea on his salary and now Man Utd are looking for a solution. Conversations are underway. They don’t want to keep the player at the club. There are some clubs interested in a loan. Napoli are an example. They’re interested in a loan but not taking on his entire salary.

“My understanding is that there is nothing concrete or serious between Napoli and Jack Grealish. They’re focused on different targets. They want Sancho on loan or on a permanent transfer with a smaller salary. Napoli will wait, but not forever. It depends on the timing. Grealish has been offered to Napoli but they’re not interested.”

No Arsenal agreement with Sesko

Romano dismissed rumours that Benjamin Sesko has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, despite reports that emerged on Thursday.

He said: “I’ve received many questions in the last hours. There are reports that Benjamin Sesko and Arsenal have reached personal terms. There is still no concrete agreement between all parties involved in this story: Sesko, his agent, RB Leipzig, Arsenal. There’s nothing done. Talking, yes. They’re trying to reach an agreement but it’s not something done as of now.”

Romano’s claims have been verified by sources in Sesko’s homeland of Slovenia.

He added: “Viktor Gyokeres remains an option for Arsenal, especially if the price is the one when the player’s agents and Sporting made the pact. Let’s see what kind of final pricing there will be for the striker.”

Barcelona step up Nico Williams chase: Deco jets to Ibiza

Barcelona continue to do everything in their power to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club after snapping up Joan Garcia from Espanyol.

Romano says: “All the people at the club are trying to work out how it can happen. They’ve got the green light from the player. Nico Williams wants to go to Barcelona. Via his agent, he’s told, all the clubs interested in him, is that his very clear intention is to go to Barcelona. Nico is only waiting for Barcelona. They’re waiting on this deal and working hard to make it happen as soon as possible.

“According to my information, Deco is not going to Bilbao, he’s going to Ibiza. Who else is there? Nico Williams and Hansi Flick. I’m not saying the negotiations will take place in Ibiza, but I don’t think that’s the real point of the story. The real part is the technical and financial part.

“Don’t forget Athletic Bilbao in this story. They’ve got a new contract proposal for Nico if he stays at the club. There’s the release clause at €58m, but we need to see if Barcelona can make it happen.

“Bayern are waiting. They’ve had two meetings. They see Nico Williams as the perfect target and they’re still thinking of him. If Barcelona falls through, they’ll try again.”

Real Madrid agreement made

Real Madrid have tied down Brahim Diaz to a new contract, with Romano telling his YouTube channel that only the formalities need completed.

“The agreement is done for Brahim Diaz to sign a new deal at Real Madrid,” he said. “Despite some approaches that he had from England – there were many clubs in the Premier League interested in signing him – the player has decided to stay committed to Real Madrid. He’s staying at the club and signing a new contract. The next one will be Thibaut Courtois.”

Rodrygo to Arsenal: Is a deal close?

Romano detailed the latest on the Brazil international winger, revealing that Arsenal are indeed tracking the player, but any transfer has not even reached the early stages yet.

He explained: “On Rodrygo, what I’m hearing, is that the position of Arsenal is absolutely confirmed. Arsenal like and appreciate Rodrygo and will add, not just a striker, but an important winger to their squad in the summer transfer window. Yes, they like the player and they are informed on the player, but they are not negotiating with Real Madrid, they have not approached the club or the player. We’re not even at the early stages.”

Romano added that Real Madrid will one sell on one condition.

He said: “The only way to sign Rodrygo is if he goes and tells the club: ‘I want to leave the club.’ As far as I’m aware, he’s not told anything to Real Madrid. Arsenal would add to love Rodrygo but it’s not something concrete.”

No doubts over Kerkez as Darwin Nunez exit confirmed

Changes are coming at Liverpool this summer, with no unexpected surprises in the pipeline, despite Milos Kerkez’s deal being delayed.

“Milos Kerkez will be a Liverpool player, no doubt. He will play for Liverpool. There are some technical things to resolve, but this is not a big issue and it’s not a problem. He’s not considering any other proposals,” Romano said.

“Richard Hughes, the Liverpool sporting director, was at Bournemouth and signed him from AZ, so for sure they want to go for the player and will sign him. No doubt about that.

“Darwin will leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window. There are calls from Saudi Arabia, there are European clubs interested, Napoli are making progress. More contacts will take place. Napoli have had new conversations with the player. We’ll understand more about this deal in the next hours – what Darwin wants to do, the conditions of the deal from Liverpool. Darwin Nunez is for sure on the list of Napoli.”

In the case of Andy Robertson, there is a little more doubt, Romano said.

“He is the desired target for Atletico Madrid but the player wants to take his time. He’s going to think about his future. Lucas Digne is another strong option for the position. We’ll follow the situation and see what Liverpool and Robertson will decide,” Romano added.
