Florentino Perez, Joan Laporta and Andrea Agnelli met in Las Vegas on Saturday, potentially to discuss the next steps for a European Super League.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the presidents of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, respectively, arranged a lunch meeting in Sin City.

The three bosses were in town as Madrid, Barca and Juventus have travelled to the United States for their summer tours.

Juventus beat Guadalajara 2-0 on Friday, while Barcelona defeated Madrid 1-0 in a pre-season Clasico.

Perez, Laporta and Agnelli took the opportunity discuss business in Las Vegas and Gazzetta believes that the Super League may have been one of the key areas for discussion.

Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus remain the only three clubs who are publicly still attached to a breakaway Super League, following the competition’s spectacular collapse a year ago.

What is the European Super League?

On April of 2021, 12 of Europe’s biggest clubs released a statement indicating that they were forming a breakaway league, though within 72 hours the plan had crumbled.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham were all ‘Founder Members’ from the Premier League who quickly backed away, while Milan, Inter and Atletico Madrid similarly withdrew.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus – three clubs in financial strife – have since refused to pull out and are still clinging to the possibility of the competition being formed.

This led to UEFA threatening the three teams with legal action and possible suspension from the Champions League.

In September of last year, the UEFA Appeals Body announced that it is no longer suing Juventus, Barca and Madrid.

The proposal has now gone to court in Luxembourg and Perez told El Chiringuito last month, “of course it is still alive.”

There were reports in March of this year that Agnelli was set to announce a new European Super League but this proved to be unfounded.
