Rangers top target confirms he wants to join this summer
Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl has admitted that he wants to complete a move to Rangers this summer, despite interest from Besiktas.
The 20-year-old is expected to leave Tromso before the end of the summer transfer window and a move to Ibrox could be on the cards, with Derek McInnes’ side eager to secure his signature ahead of next season.
Hjerto-Dahl has been on Besiktas’ radar for several months, but the midfielder is currently eager to join Rangers instead, and the Scottish giants have already seen an opening bid worth €6.2 million rejected by Tromso, as per reports in Norway.
It’s understood that a fee of €10m may be required to sign Hjerto-Dahl this summer, but a Tromso exit appears highly likely following his comments after their 4-0 win over Valerenga on Saturday.
Speaking after the game, in which he scored his sixth goal in just 13 league games so far this season, Hjerto-Dahl said: “I still prefer Rangers over Besiktas, but I am prepared for the fact that it could take a long time before a move to a new club is finalised.”
The Norway U21 international has three years remaining on his current contract at Tromso, however he is eager to leave the club this summer and it appears as though he would like to complete a move to Rangers amid significant interest from the Scottish giants.
Rangers are also interested in Partizan Belgrade star Vanja Dragojevic as they look to further bolster their options in midfield ahead of next season, but a deal for Hjerto-Dahl is currently being worked on.
Who have Rangers signed so far this summer?
McInnes, who was appointed as Danny Rohl’s replacement as head coach in June, has been heavily backed in the transfer market so far this summer, and the Ibrox giants are expected to add further reinforcements before the window shuts on 1 September.
Rangers have signed Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland, Cammy Devlin and Ben Godfrey (loan) since the window opened in June, and several other new additions could be set to arrive over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Jack Butland has been sold to Hull City, Ben Davies and James Tavernier have departed as free agents, and Bailey Rice has been sent on loan to Kilmarnock.
