Davide Ancelotti: Rangers get major update in next manager hunt

Davide Ancelotti has given Rangers have received a major update in their quest to find a new manager.
The Gers have been without a boss since Philippe Clement left the club in February, with Ibrox legend Barry Ferguson stepping into the role on an interim basis.
With Ferguson having failed to revive the fortunes of the Glasgow giants, a big-name had been expected to arrive in the form of Ancelotti, son of legendary Real Madrid coach Carlo.
The 35-year-old Italian has been linked with several major jobs across Europe this summer, including Serie A side Como. When it emerged that Cesc Fabregas would not leave that post, however, Ancelotti seemed increasingly likely to head to Rangers.
Now it has emerged that Ancelotti has no intention of leaving the side of his father for at least another year.
Onda Cero reporter Alberto Pereiro states on X: “Carlo and Davide have not parted ways yet.
“Davide has decided to postpone his career as a head coach and will accompany his father to Brazil until after World Cup 2026.
“Furthermore, Carlo will not live in Madrid or London, he is moving to Brazil from now on.”

Who is favourite to become next Rangers manager?
Davide Ancelotti had been a hot favourite to become the next Rangers manager and the news that he has dropped out of the race will come as something of a bombshell at Ibrox.
Former Gers boss Steven Gerrard and ex-Southampton manager Russell Martin, who was a Scotland international in his playing days, are both considered to be leading candidates.
Experienced German boss Marco Rose is another who could be favoured at Rangers, whose options have been severely narrowed due to the Ancelotti revelations.
