President of France Emmanuel Macron has revealed details of his conversation with Kylian Mbappe at a dinner earlier this week that was also attended by the Emir of Qatar and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Mbappe’s presence at such an event with illustrious guests was seen by some in Spain as a last-ditch attempt from PSG to attempt to persuade the 25-year-old striker to remain at the Ligue 1 leaders.

As it stands, the World Cup winner will depart Les Parisiens in the summer at the end of his contract and Real Madrid are in pole position to secure his signature.

It had been suggested, though, that Mbappe’s presence at the dinner was a rouse for him to meet influential people who might keep him in the French capital.

What did Macron say to Mbappe?

President Macron, though, has revealed what was said to the France international star.

“Was it a dinner to try to get him to stay at PSG? No, not at all,” Marcon, who is a big supporter of the France national team and a fan of Marseille, explained in comments relayed by RMC Sport.

“There was no discussion on this and I leave it to the club management to do that.

“It was normal that he was there, a great champion who helped to liven up the 2022 World Cup final for the France team Qatar. And PSG given its shareholding…

“He’s still spent seven seasons at PSG! I think all French people admire this great player, but there was no discussion over his future.”

Mbappe has been in electric form for PSG this season, scoring 32 goals in 32 matches for Luis Enrique’s side.

However, there are signs that there could be tension before he finally leaves for Real Madrid, with the Spanish coach publicly deflating the forward’s status in the squad in a 1-1 draw against Rennes last weekend, when he was withdrawn as the team was chasing the game.

Mbappe is, however, expected to feature against Monaco on Friday and then against Real Sociedad in the Champions League next Tuesday.
