Paris Saint-Germain have been handed a transfer ultimatum by Corinthians president Augusto Melo, following their stalled pursuit of Gabriel Moscardo.

The Parisians were on the verge of signing the 18-year-old Brazilian, but the move has hit a speedbump after Moscardo failed his medical due to a foot injury.

PSG remain keen on signing the midfielder, but they are wary of signing a player who is currently injured. As a result, the transfer is currently at a dead end and won’t be resolved unless the French giants choose to press forward with their pursuit of Moscardo or give up.

However, Corinthians are keen to force PSG’s hand and they have issued the reigning Ligue 1 champions a transfer ultimatum.

Melo spoke to Brazilian media about the transfer (as per Get French Football News) and stated: “Either PSG pay now, or he [Moscardo] comes back to Corinthians. If they don’t pay now, he’ll come back. I have asked for him to come back.

“If there is a risk that we aren’t paid, let him return to fitness here and we will be in a good position to sell him for even more […] in two months, he will be back.”

Moscardo was previously chased by Premier League side Chelsea, with the Blues keen on adding him to their contingent of young Brazilian stars.

However, PSG appear to have won the race to sign him after reaching a €25 million agreement with Corinthians. His injury has caused some drama and the deal could be pulled if PSG decide against purchasing him.

Luis Enrique’s side have already signed Moscardo’s fellow Brazilian youngster Lucas Beraldo from Sao Paulo. The 20-year-old is a talented defender and he has signed a five-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

Beraldo will wear the number 35 shirt and will compete with the likes of Marquinhos, Milan Skriniar and Danilo Pereira for a starting berth at PSG.
