PSG to 'put Mbappe under pressure' - Romano

Paris Saint-Germain will 'put Kylian Mbappe under pressure' in a bid to resolve the ongoing contract dispute, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Frenchman kicked off this transfer saga when it was revealed that he has no intention to trigger his contract extension, meaning that he will be a free agent next summer. This was music to Real Madrid's ears who have been trying to sign the 24-year-old for years, but it has left PSG enraged.

Indeed, Nasser Al-Khelaifi publically aired his frustration about the situation during Luis Enrique's unveiling as the new PSG boss. "We want him to stay," the 49-year-old said, "but he can't leave for free. It was our oral agreement and he had expressed it publicly in an interview. So it's not debatable. And I was really shocked to learn that he intended to leave for free."

"It's very disappointing," he added, "because Kylian is a fantastic boy, a real gentleman, and leaving for free, weakening the biggest French club, it's not like him. When I received this information, I was shocked and disappointed."

Nevertheless, Al-Khelaifi gave Mbappe a two-week deadline by which to make a final final decision on his future.

PSG to force the issue

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG - keen to resolve the situation as soon as possible - will force the issue by putting Mbappe under pressure, "telling him this week they wait for an answer, otherwise they will discuss internally later this week about a potential price tag to discuss with clubs for Kylian Mbappe."

"So, PSG are basically saying," Romano continued on his YouTube channel, "let us know what you want to do, if you want to sign a new deal let us know as soon as possible."

If the Frenchman doesn't respond, PSG will put "Mbappe on the market." As for Real Madrid, they are keeping a keen eye on the situation, but they will refrain from making any advances until PSG announce their asking price.
