Fabrizio Romano confirms Lamine-Yamal-Barcelona WAR
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that there is a war ongoing between Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation over Lamine Yamal's groin injury.
Yamal has been ruled out of Barcelona's La Liga match against Valencia after returning from Spain international duty with a groin issue.
Yamal started both World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Turkey with pain-killing injections despite not training between the matches.
He has since returned to Camp Nou with a groin problem that has ruled him out of the Valencia game and risks seeing him have a longer spell on the sidelines.
Barca war over Yamal
The way Spain treated Yamal has infuriated Barcelona, with manager Hansi Flick laying into the RFEF on Saturday.
"He will not be available. He went off to play for Spain with some pain and did not train," Flick said. "They gave him painkillers so he could play.
"They had at least a three-goal lead in both matches, and he still played 73 and 79 minutes. Between the games he was not able to train. That is not looking after the player. I am very sad about this."
Flick also hit out at the poor communication between him and Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, which was only over text message.
"Maybe my Spanish is not good, his English is not good, so this is a problem. Normally the communication could be better. I was also on this side as a national team coach, so I know how hard this job sometimes is," Flick said.
According to Sport, the RFEF have denied that there was poor communication and that they handled the Yamal injury situation badly.
The RFEF claim that that their physiotherapist Fernando Galan found no groin problem with Yamal when he reported for Spain duty.
But in his latest YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano says that Barcelona are absolutely up in arms with the RFEF.
Indeed, the war between the two parties is even worse than what has been reported in the media, according to Romano.
Romano says that Yamal will probably miss Champions League matchday one next week against Newcastle.
This does not bode well for the future of the player this season in what is a World Cup year.
The 18-year-old is considered by many to be the best player in the world after a stunning past 18 months for Barcerlona and Spain.
