Barcelona are still unable to register new signing Roony Bardghji as they face a race against the clock to free up the necessary financial space before Deadline Day.

The 'Swedish Messi' arrived in Catalunya in a surprisingly cheap deal from Copenhagen as something of an unknown quantity. Bardghji previously starred in the Champions League, but an ACL injury had brought his development to an unceremonious halt.

His lengthy spell on the sidelines and the fact that he only had six months left on his contract meant that Barcelona were able to sign him for just €2.5 million.

The 19-year-old showed in pre-season that he still has that spark that once saw him be regarded as one of Europe's biggest wonderkids, and Barcelona deem him an ideal backup for Lamine Yamal.

However, it wouldn't be a Blaugrana transfer without complications. Indeed, Bardghji is currently unable to play for his new employers.

Bardghji forced to play for reserves

As Sport points out, Bardghji has yet to be registered for Barcelona's senior side, and the LaLiga champions are currently unable to do so. The club need to shift more deadwood before the deadline or risk not being able to have the Swede available until January.

The teenager scored a Panenka penalty for Barcelona's reserves earlier on Saturday, but Bardghji is considered too good for the Spanish fourth tier. In fact, plenty of La Masia talents have jumped ship this summer due to Barca Atletic's relegation from the third division last season.

Barcelona are therefore considering a loan move for the Swede, but this isn't really a solution either as Bardghji can't play for a new side without being registered by his parent club.

Oriol Romeu, Inaki Pena and Hector Fort could still leave Barcelona before 1 September, but it is clear that the Blaugrana are facing a race against time to free up the necessary cap space to register Bardghji.
