The Blaugrana wonderkid has established himself as the world's biggest talent since his first-team debut in late April 2023. Yamal has gone from strength to strength over the past two seasons, and he is already one of the best players in football and a favourite for this year's Ballon d'Or.

The teenager led Barcelona to a domestic treble in the bygone campaign, contributing an impressive 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 appearances - all at the tender age of just 17.

Yamal has broken a host of records domestically and internationally, and he is set to be the face of football for the next 15 years, following in the footsteps of Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.

Due to his age, Yamal was previously unable to sign long-term contracts with Barcelona, but with his 18th birthday coming up in July, the club have moved decisively to tie their golden boy down for the foreseeable future.

Yamal signs Barcelona extension

Barcelona have officially announced that Yamal has signed a contract extension until 2031 after putting pen to paper at the club's headquarters on Tuesday, formalising a verbal agreement that had been in place for some time already.

Despite inevitable interest from elsewhere - PSG made a €200 million offer in spring 2024 - Yamal has never entertained the idea of potentially leaving Barcelona.

Some reports have claimed that Yamal asked to become Barcelona's highest-paid player, but this was dismissed by sporting director Deco. Still, given his performances and importance, the youngster is surely among the Catalans' top earners now.

Despite his youth, Yamal has already made north of a century of appearances for his boyhood club. He has won two LaLiga titles, a Supercopa and a Copa del Rey with Barcelona as well as Euro 2024 with Spain.

He has become the latest Barcelona star to commit his long-term future to Hansi Flick's exciting project. The German coach recently extended his deal until 2027, while key stars like Pedri, Gavi and Ronald Araujo have also agreed fresh terms.
