Rodrygo drops transfer bombshell on social media as Real Madrid fight to save LaLiga

Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo took to social media as his team-mates were preparing for a vital LaLiga clash against Mallorca to drop a transfer bombshell.
The Brazil international has been heavily tipped in the media to leave the Bernabeu this summer in one of the biggest deals of the transfer window.
Having allegedly fallen out with the hierarchy in the Spanish capital, the young Brazil international winger has had a price tag of €100 million placed on his head.
This has attracted no fewer than five clubs to assess his situation, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG all following Rodrygo, according to AS. All are seeking offensive reinforcements this summer, with the 24-year-old firmly in the spotlight.
Rodrygo previously dropped a major hint as to his next destination.
During the summer of 2024, Man City sought to sign Rodrygo as a replacement for Julian Alvarez, who they had sold to Atletico Madrid. The youngster turned them down at that point but then dropped a bombshell statement in an interview.
“For me, they’re the best team in the world. The one that plays the best football,” he told GQ.

Although City have fallen away over the course of the last year and it is therefore unclear whether Rodrygo still believes this statement, it is clear that he has an admiration for Pep Guardiola and his vision.
Moving to City, though, is not Rodrygo's best option according to data analytics experts SciSports.
Indeed, of the clubs following the 33-capped Brazil star, City are given the weakest Club Fit score by the data analytics experts.
Rodrygo rejects transfer talk
Rodrygo himself has denied claims that he has fallen out with the Real Madrid hierarchy, taking to social media on Wednesday to post an image of himself in what appears to be a hyperbaric chamber, which would be used to recover from injury.
He posted: “Thanks for all the messages and concerns. I’ll be back soon. Stop creating things.”

This message came just hours before Carlo Ancelotti’s side took the field at the Bernabeu to try to extend LaLiga’s title race by claiming victory against Mallorca. They did so by a whisker, with a goal from Jacobo Ramon salvaging a 2-1 victory, leaving Barcelona needing a win (or two draws) from their last two matches to seal the title.
For Real Madrid, though, the best news came from Rodrygo, who appears to believe that the subject of a transfer to the Premier League is not currently an active one, suggesting the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal will have to look elsewhere this summer.
