Former Manchester City star Nolito believes that Barcelona need to sign Brahim Diaz.

The Real Madrid attacker is facing something of an uncertain future. The impending arrival of PSG megastar Kylian Mbappe has thrown his place in Los Blancos' side into doubt and the newly-minted Morocco international has been the subject of growing speculation.

There have been suggestions that Arsenal could swoop for the attacking midfielder, whose value has exploded amid good form in Real's famous white shirt. Though not always a guaranteed starter under Carlo Ancelotti, Brahim has notched a respectable nine goals and five assists so far this term.

Though Mbappe will be a free transfer on paper, his wages and astronomical signing-on fee will require a financial outlay of epic proportions. A sale of Brahim could help Real Madrid balance the books to sign Mbappe and former Barcelona man Nolito believes he would feel right at home in Catalunya.

Barca should sign Brahim

Speaking to AS, Nolito urged his ex-youth club to sign his former Man City teammate, waxing lyrical about Brahim and what he could bring to the table at Barcelona.

“I would sign him tomorrow. I would spend whatever money was necessary, honestly. He seems like a wonderful player to me. Of course, he is already in Madrid. But if I were [Barcelona president] Tito Laporta, I would show up with a briefcase with the money to take him away (laughs).”

Of course, the chances of this move materialising are incredibly slim and the experts at data analytics firm SciSports disagree with Nolito. Using their Career Advice tool, we can see that Diaz would not be a good fit for the Blaugrana.

Nevertheless, Brahim's future will likely continue to be the subject of discussion in the coming weeks and months.
