Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Alphonso Davies' agent was in Barcelona.

The Bayern Munich left-back is facing an uncertain future. His contract is up in 2025 and there has thus far been little in the way of tangible progress for the German giants when it comes to agreeing fresh terms.

On the contrary, a recent report claimed that the Bavarians will no longer hand out lucrative deals unless the player in question has earned in. In light of the club's rotten form, losing three on the bounce and staring a season without silverware in the face, club bosses are set to take a tougher stance.

This will have an impact on Davies, who wants his salary to be brought in line with that of the club's biggest earners, chief among them Harry Kane, who obliterated Bayern's wage structure when he joined them in the summer. The Germans won't yield to his demands, which has Real Madrid licking their lips.

Barca to hijack Real's deal?

Los Blancos have been linked with a €50 million summer move for Davies for months and they are expected to pursue a deal should Bayern really fail to get him to commit his future to the club. Interestingly, however, Davies' agent was recently spotted in Barcelona, giving rise to rumours that the Blaugrana could hijack their rivals' move.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, it would be incredibly difficult for the cash-strapped Catalans to sign the Canadian and it would also make little sense given that they already have Alejandro Balde. “The agent of the Bayern Munich left-back was in Barcelona but at the moment, I’m not aware of concrete negotiations with Barca,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

“They have Alejandro Balde in that position and Alphonso wants an important salary, either from Bayern with a new deal, or with Real Madrid or any other club. So, for Barca, it’s really complicated to offer that.”
