Real Madrid have made a contingency plan if they fail to land Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer market, with Bayern Munich sensation Jamal Musiala the superstar earmarked to join the club.

Mbappe is out of contract at PSG in June 2024 and could potentially join Los Blancos as a free agent, yet there is a fear that he will agree a new deal with Les Parisiens to scupper the Spaniards’ hopes of landing him.

According to SportBild, second on Real Madrid’s shopping list is Jamal Musiala, a player valued at nearly €95 million by FootballTransfers’ algorithm.

It states: “Real Madrid want to further their transformation with Mbappe and sign a new leading striker after the departure of Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad. However, if the deal falls through again, Jamal Musiala is in second place on their shopping list.”

Musiala to Real Madrid: Will it happen?

While the addition of a midfielder might be surprising in preference to another forward, the German source argues that Real Madrid should make the former Chelsea academy star their leading target for next summer.

It is pointed out that Los Blancos are already scoring at the rate of more than two goals per game in LaLiga and have found the target as often as Barcelona.

Furthermore, it is argued that Mbappe had his chance to go to Madrid in 2022 and elected to stay with PSG instead.

Jamal Musial's transfer valuation over time

Musiala, who could hook up with his good friend Jude Bellingham in Spain, would be an expensive target for Real Madrid, despite putting a hold on contract talks with Bayern. He remains committed to the Bundesliga side until 2026.

FCB, meanwhile, are unlikely to allow a key starter to leave easily, particularly one that is only 20 years old.

It would likely take a club-record transfer offer for Real Madrid to even enter talks with Bayern.
