RB Salzburg and Israel youngster Oscar Gloukh “dreams” of playing for Real Madrid in the future, despite interest from Barcelona.

The 19-year-old joined RB Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January 2023, but Barcelona were keen on signing him before he agreed a €7 million move to Austria, according to the player.

He has told Forbes Israel, via Marca: “Barcelona remembered me when we already had everything closed with Salzburg.

However, while Barca were interested in signing the attacking midfielder, a move to Camp Nou is not top of Gloukh’s wish list.

He also revealed: “I have been a Madrid fan since I can remember. My biggest dream is to play at the Bernabeu with the Real shirt. It would be the pinnacle for me.”

Gloukh has three goals and three assists in 12 appearances for RB Salzburg in all competitions this season, including one strike during their opening group stage game in this year’s Champions League.

He also has three goals in just eight international caps for Israel’s senior team, having made his debut in November 2022.

Real Madrid’s recent transfer business

If Los Blancos decided to move for Gloukh in the future, it would be in keeping with their recent transfer strategy, which has moved towards signing the best young talent in world football.

The likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Aurelien Tchouameni have joined Real Madrid over the past few years, while this summer was another example of their new aim of building a young core.

Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia and Arda Guler all joined the Spanish giants during the most recent transfer window. Guler is yet to feature due to injury, but Bellingham and Garcia have both played prevalent roles this campaign, with the former netting seven goals in just eight appearances.
