Who is Elyaz Zidane? World Cup winner's son who is impressing at Real Madrid

All four of Zinedine Zidane's sons have trained with Real Madrid's first team and it is the youngest, Elyaz, who is catching the eye now.

Like Enzo, Luca and Theo before him, Elyaz Zidane finds himself in the Los Blancos youth system given that their father, a former Real Madrid player, spent several years coaching the Spanish giants.

While Enzo (free agent) and Luca (SD Eibar) have already departed the Santiago Bernabeu after failing to match their father's achievements, Theo and Elyaz remain, and it is the latter who is currently impressing, having moved up to Real's U19s, the Juvenil A side.

What position does Elyaz play in?

Incredibly, all four Zidane sons play different positions and Elyaz is the most defensive-minded of the quartet, featuring at left-back and centre-back.

How good is Elyaz?

Despite being just 17, Elyaz Zidane already clocks in at a whopping 194cm (6ft 5in) which means that he is not necessarily a left-back in the traditional sense. His future likely lies at the heart of the defence, especially since left-footed central defenders are a sought-after commodity.

Back in March 2023, Zidane was called up to train with Real Madrid's senior team, but the teenager has not yet featured for Los Blancos. Instead, he's plying his trade in the club's youth setup, moving up from the U18s to the U19s ahead of the new season, though he already featured for the latter as early 2021 - when he was just 15 years of age!

Indeed, when he was 15, he was also called up to the French U17s and last year, he won the U17 Euros with his national team. Currently under the tutelage of former Liverpool and Real player Alvaro Arbeloa, Zidane is developing nicely at Real.

Elyaz has already scored for Los Blancos' U19s and he is considered the most promising of Zidane's four sons. If he continues on his current trajectory, it won't be long until he lines up for Castilla, Real's B team.

What clubs are interested in Elyaz?

Elyaz Zidane is currently not linked with any clubs and Real Madrid would be foolish to let the talented 17-year-old leave.

When does Elyaz's contract expire?

The exact length of Elyaz Zidane's contract is not known, but given that he is under the age of 18, his current contract can't run for more than three years.
