Jose Mourinho’s hopes of going back to Real Madrid appear to have been dashed – but the door has opened to him to potentially move to another European giant, where he has been told he would be the perfect solution.

Carlo Ancelotti appears set to leave Los Blancos in the summer. The Italian has overseen a disappointing campaign in La Liga, with Barcelona dominating the Primera Division and in a strong place to move into the Copa del Rey final, leaving the Champions League as the Bernabeu side’s only hope of glory.

Ancelotti is tipped to move to the Brazil national team post, which would create a vacuum in Madrid.

Mourinho, who is presently at Roma, is one name put forward for the task, but this has been shot down by reports from Marca, which states that Los Blancos “don’t contemplate” a second spell at the club for the Portuguese, who previously led them from 2010-13.

Madrid out, PSG in?

The ex-Manchester United and Chelsea manager, though, has been told he is perfect for PSG.

The position at Parc des Princes could become vacant in the summer with Christophe Galtier’s side having failed to perform well in big matches this season, despite leading the way in Ligue 1.

Club legend Jerome Rothen believes that Mourinho has the ideal profile to drive PSG to become the kind of club they wish to be.

“I am not campaigning for the departure of Christophe Galtier, but if this is the choice decided by the Parisian board, we should not look any further than Jose Mourinho,” he told RMC.

“A tough coach, a coach who has won, who has a lot of experience, who will be respected by all the players in the locker room, who will be able to impose a certain discipline, put the players in line when there are nocturnal escapades... He will not hesitate not to make the players face responsibilities. And above all he is a f***ing passionate person.”
