Real Madrid make Chelsea star a priority to add to their young squad

Real Madrid have made right-back one of their priority positions for future transfer windows and are targeting Chelsea’s Reece James in the long run.
Los Blancos currently have Dani Carvajal on their books and he has impressed in recent months, securing the starting spot as his own since the turn of the year.
There were doubts over his form at the start of last season but he has done well in recent times, as evident by his fine performance in the Champions League final in May against Liverpool.
Real Madrid are still planning for the future, and are eyeing up a move for James, who they have been tracking for a very long time and have been wowed by his progress with the Blues.

James recently signed a new long-term contract with Chelsea, keeping him at the club until 2028, so a move for him will be complicated as Real Madrid will have to spend big.
The Englishman has played a big part in Chelsea’s successes in recent times and was a crucial part of Thomas Tuchel’s team, before carrying that forward with Graham Potter, who was appointed last month.
Now, according to Fichajes, Real Madrid want James to replace Carvajal, as the 30-year-old will not be able to maintain this level for a long time and the Englishman is seen as the ideal replacement.

James impressed for Chelsea in their clashes against Real Madrid in the Champions League last season, with Karim Benzema even praising his display after the match at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He has been admired in the Spanish capital for a while now, and given Real Madrid’s rather positive financial situation, they are confident of making a move happen in the near future.
They are building a young team, with the likes of Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga already making a mark, and James would add to it.
