Frenkie de Jong to Chelsea: Blues could offer Barcelona Marcos Alonso

Chelsea are interested in a deal with Barcelona for midfielder Frenkie de Jong and are willing to offer Marcos Alonso in an agreement that would see both clubs benefit.
The Blues have entered the race for the Dutch midfielder, who was of interest to Manchester United for nearly three months, and they hope to get a deal over the line for the player.
Barcelona have been keen to sell as well, as they hope to get out of their difficult financial situation and be in line with La Liga’s rules on registering players.
They are, however, still interested in left-back Marcos Alonso, and have been in discussions over a transfer for a while now, and they could be helped by the Blues’ offer.

Barcelona signed five players over the summer transfer window, but are struggling to register them under La Liga rules, as they’re still over the required spending limit.
This makes the sale of De Jong almost a necessity, and despite negotiating with Manchester United for much of the summer and even agreeing a fee, the deal hasn’t been complete.
This is due to the situation surrounding De Jong’s deferred wages, as he’s owed money after agreeing a deferral during the club’s financial trouble as a result of the pandemic.
They have been keeping an eye on Alonso for much of the summer, with personal terms believed to have been agreed, but aren’t yet able to agree a fee with Chelsea.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been following the situation with De Jong and believe the Dutchman would be interested in joining them as they can offer a stable environment as well as Champions League football.
The Blues have been in many transfer battles with Barcelona this summer, but could be of help here, and according to Sport, they have offered the club €70m plus Alonso to get a deal for the player.
How Barcelona react to any potential offer remains to be seen, but this would certainly be of help to them and make the transfer window a bigger success.
