Adama’s Barcelona transfer could be thwarted by Trincao

Barcelona could miss out on signing Adama Traore on a permanent deal because of Francisco Trincao.
Traore has made a very positive impression since re-joining the Camp Nou side on loan from Wolves in January, looking every inch a Barca player by chalking up four assists in his first six games for the club.
Trincao, meanwhile, made a temporary transfer in the opposite direction last summer but has not impressed in the Premier League. Indeed, the 22-year-old winger’s sole goal involvement for Wolves came against Nottingham Forest in an EFL Cup tie back in August. Since the beginning of December, he has largely been getting minutes here and there from the bench.

Indeed, this situation could cost Barca the ability to sign Traore, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo.
Barcelona’s perilous financial position is well known and could play a part in Adama’s future.
Barca's Trincao problem
While Wolves expect the Catalans to execute the purchase option for the winger, which is set around the €30 million mark, and have already targeted Benfica winger Rafa Silva as his replacement. However, there is no guarantee that Barcelona will be able to do a deal without first selling Trincao.
Wolves, though, are not happy with Trincao and are unwilling to sign him.
Barca, too, want to complete the permanent signing of Adama and are said to be looking for potential buyers of the Portuguese.
Trincao arrived from Braga in 2020 with a huge reputation and transfer fee to boot. He was signed for around €31m and given a buyout clause of €500m. However, he scored only three goals in 2 appearances for Barcelona last season as he failed to live up to his billing.
Barca will likely sell Trincao at a loss, but simply shifting him from their books will be a big step towards signing Adama Traore permanently.
