The one previous time Griezmann and Suárez took on Real Madrid

In that 2019/20 season, there were two Clásicos played. However, the Frenchman and Uruguayan only actually teamed up in one of them. That was the Matchday 10 goalless draw at the Camp Nou in December of 2019, the only time the Clásico hasn’t produced at least one goal since 2002. Neither player had a good game and the Frenchman was even taken off for the young Ansu Fati before the end.

The other Clásico held in Griezmann and Suárez’s year together in Catalonia was a 2-0 Real Madrid victory just before the coronavirus lockdown. But, Suárez didn’t play in that one as a result of a knee injury.

Griezmann and Suárez’s individual records against Real Madrid

Atlético Madrid’s new strike partnership may not have played much against Real Madrid together, but each player does have a long history of scoring goals against Los Blancos.

In the case of Griezmann, he has eight goals and five assists in 32 appearances against Real Madrid, with six of these goals and four of these assists coming in the red and white colours of Atlético.

For Suárez, he has a better rate of scoring against Real Madrid, with 12 goals and five assists in 18 appearances. Apart from the goal he scored for Atleti in the most recent derby, a 1-1 draw at the end of last season, the rest of these goals and assists came in Clásicos.
