Chelsea and Liverpool transfer target Isak signs new deal till 2026

Real Sociedad’s in-demand striker Alexander Isak has signed a new deal with the club that is set to run through till 2026.
The Sweden international’s minimum-fee release clause has also reportedly been raised from €70 million to €90 million and will remove any buy-back clauses that his previous club had.

Isak made the move to Sociedad in 2019 for around €15m and has gone from strength to strength after being offered regular game time by the Spanish club.
Over the course of the last two years, the towering striker has amassed no less than 33 goals and five assists in just 89 games for the Spanish top-flight side and as such garnered interest from bigger clubs.
Alongside a proposed return to former club Borussia Dortmund, Isak has found himself linked with moves to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea.
However, this new deal and a higher release clause should do enough to discourage any potential bidders from trying to pull Sociedad’s prized striker away from them this summer.
Clause now a reported €90m (was previously €70m). Just gives Real Sociedad a lot more protection should any interest be declared. Player has always been very happy in San Sebastián.

How good is Alexander Isak?
Having bagged no less than 17 goals and two assists in La Liga last season, there’s no doubt that the interest in Isak is genuine and comes from the fact that he was one of the best attacking talents in Spain last season.
His combined 19 goals and assists translates to 0.73 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes for the 2020/21 season and has the 21-year-old striker sitting fourth in the Spanish top flight for how regularly he either scored or assisted a goal.
In fact, according to Football Critic, only Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and Luis Suarez had a more impressive average last season. Which goes some way to explaining why so many clubs were interested in the Sweden international before he signed a contract extension.
