RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi will undoubtedly be one of the most sought-after players in the transfer window next summer.

The young Germany international has been linked with moves to Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

However, while the player’s future remains in question, Adeyemi has already gone some way to ruling out a potential move to the aforementioned Spanish giants.

According to the player’s agent, Thomas Solomon, the RB Salzburg striker has already rejected a potential move to Barcelona.

So why would such a young and promising player turn down an offer from one of Europe’s most historical clubs?

Why Adeyemi rejected Barcelona

According to the football agent, Adeyemi was the subject of a bid from Barca but the player made it clear that he had no interest in a move at this time.

“A few days ago we definitely said no to Barca's offer. Barça is no longer an option for Karim,” said Solomon at the Golden Boy gala in Turin.

However, rather than a flat-out lack of interest in playing for the Catalan giants, Adeyemi may instead be playing the long game.

According to Sport-Bild, the player is insistent on a move to the Bundesliga - Borussia Dortmund in particular - so he can develop and then eventually become a player that would be capable of leading the line for Barca one day.

As such, Adeyemi could simply be prioritising playing time and his development over what may still be a dream move for him in the future. Which is exactly what he alluded to in a Marca interview earlier in the year.

“Barcelona are one of the best clubs in the world and I am honored that they want me,” said the Germany international. “That's why I see myself playing for Barcelona in the future.”

Indeed, Adeyemi may have every hope of playing for Barca one day. He’s just not particularly interested in doing it just yet.
