Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has hinted at the possibility of him losing his job if his side can’t beat Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night.

The Dutch manager has been under immense pressure at the Catalan club for much of the season after a poor start saw his side pick up just five wins from their first 12 games in all competitions.

To compound the misery, Barca were also beaten at home to Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season. A third straight defeat in the fixture for Koeman, which matches a winless run that has stood for 85 years.

As such, Koeman is widely expected to lose his job at some point this season if results don’t improve dramatically.

However, the Barca manager was far from convinced that he would be sticking around for too long.

'I want to enjoy the time that I have left'

"I'm a grown up and I know how these things work," Koeman said on Tuesday at a press conference.

"I want to enjoy the time that I have left, if it is eight years, six months, one year, or some weeks.

“I think it's important that we win this game in Madrid, we cannot afford back-to-back losses."

Koeman was certainly feeling the heat after Sunday’s defeat to Madrid, when fans protested outside the club’s stadium and blocked the manager’s car when he tried to leave after the game.

Fans surrounded the car, banged on it and started chanting for the manager to leave, but Koeman believes these “uneducated people” don’t represent normal, match-going Barca fans.

He added: "It is a social problem. Uneducated people that don't understand rules and values.

"Inside the stadium the environment was completely different and that is what I keep in mind, that festive vibe, not with those kinds of people."
