Who is Jamie Bynoe-Gittens? The 'next Jadon Sancho' that rejected Chelsea before Dortmund move

Borussia Dortmund are undoubtedly known for being one of the best teams in European football for developing and producing the stars of tomorrow.

Whether it be Christian Pulisic, Jadon Sancho or Erling Haaland, many of the sport’s most promising players have learned their trade at the Westfalenstadion.

However, while the limelight may be focused on Haaland or his English team mate Jude Bellingham, another player is beginning to emerge at the club that could one day be another world star in the making.

Although Bynoe-Gittens can play across the front three, he has shown a preference for playing on the right wing.

How good is Jamie Bynoe-Gittens?

For now, Bynoe-Gittens remains a prospect in Dortmund’s youth teams and hasn’t yet been afforded the opportunity to play for Marco Rose’s first team.

However, that’s not to say that he isn’t already making waves. Since making the move to Dortmund in the summer, Bynoe-Gittens has already bagged no less than three goals and three assists in just five games for Dortmund in the youth leagues. And then a further six goals in just four games in the UEFA Youth League.

His most recent and impressive performance came in a clash with Manchester United, when the young English winger scored both goals in a 2-2 draw that eventually went to penalties, which Bynoe-Gittens won with the decisive conversion of the game.

Following the match, German sports magazine Sport-Bild was full of praise for the young players, stating: “The parallels to Jadon Sancho, who played for the Black and Yellow from 2017 to 2021, cannot be overlooked. Bynoe-Gittens is incredibly quick and tricky. And he's said to be even stronger in one-on-ones.”

What clubs are interested in Jamie Bynoe-Gittens?

Due to Bynoe-Gittens’s age, the young winger hasn’t quite garnered a huge amount of international interest just yet. Although that could very easily change.

Having formerly played at Manchester City, the young star from Reading will undoubtedly still be on their radar. Prior to his move to the English giants, Bynoe-Gittens rejected a move to Chelsea’s academy, so there’s no doubt that the Stamford Bridge side will know all about the young forward too.
