Werder Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeldt doesn’t believe Aston Villa transfer target Milot Rashica will leave the club this month.

The Kosovo international was linked with a move to Aston Villa in a report by Birmingham Live, as a potential January transfer target.

Rashica joined the Bundesliga side from Vitesse in 2018 for a reported £6.3 million and picked up a number of admirers last season when he finished the season with 11 goals and eight assists in 34 games.

Despite spending much of this current campaign out with injury, the 24-year-old forward remains a key member of Bremen’s team.

And when asked about a potential transfer away from Germany, head coach Kohfeldt remained hopeful that he’d be able to continue calling on Rashica’s services for the remainder of the season.

“For me, there are currently no signs that he will not be in the starting eleven on Tuesday,” said Kohfeldt.

“There have been loose inquiries for Milot, which are sometimes passed on to us by his agent, but we haven’t had a concrete written offer on the table to think about in recent weeks.”

With 18 months left on his current deal at Bremen, it’s likely that the German club will look to cash in on the Kosovan’s talents in the summer transfer window.

However, Villa may face a bit of a fight if they are holding off on making a bid until the end of the season.

Leeds United have also been linked with the forward and could rival the Birmingham club’s efforts to sign Rashica.

Similarly, the Bundesliga star was reportedly close to signing for Bayer Leverkusen in the previous summer transfer window and could perhaps be interested in making another offer in six months time.

Whether Rashica ends up staying at Bremen or makes a move to Villa Park, it seems as though it won’t be anytime soon.
