The Reds are eyeing the former Everton winger, in a move that will likely see the Magpies snub any offer for Alexander Isak.

Newcastle paid a club-record fee of around £63m to sign Isak from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. He has blossomed at St James’ Park, scoring 29 goals in his 48 Premier League appearances for the club.

Eddie Howe’s team is backed by PIF, who have invested heavily since taking control of Newcastle but the trouble is that FFP regulations could see the club forced to sell some of their star assets in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Bruno Guimaraes could well be one who is moved on, with Manchester United and the Gunners thought to be keen. Meanwhile, the Independent claimed last week that ‘Isak is at the top of Arsenal’s list of striking targets for the summer, as Mikel Arteta is now intent on buying the forward that will complete his team’.

He was recently voted as Newcastle’s Player of the Season this term for his efforts, and now is on the radar of Liverpool scouts.

But Gordon would cost a substantial £100m - a huge increase on the £45m Newastle signed him for iin January last year.

It’s believed that Gordon is a lifelong Liverpool supporter, having previously been part of their youth setup before moving to Everton.

Gordon has 20 goal contributions to his name this season, and there were raised eyebrows when the 23-year-old was not nominated for Young Player of the Season.
