Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia in December 2022 and has so far flourished in the Middle East, with 25 goals and eight assists in 30 games.

The former Manchester United star is now captain of the side, who are sitting third in the Pro League, behind Al Taawoun and Al Hilal, the club which Neymar plays for.

Ronaldo saw limited minutes for his national side during their last World Cup - with Paris Saint-Germain Goncalo Ramos taking his spot. Portugal were knocked out of the competition by Morocco in the quarter-finals.

Ronaldo’s retirement has not been discussed yet but it’s clear that he wants to remain at the top of his game for years to come yet.

The player is revered at Man Utd and Real Madrid, where he is the club’s all-time top goalscorer. He had a torrid second spell for the Red Devils, however, and opted to move to Saudi Arabia after being released from his contract following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
