Romano said via his YouTube channel: “Frenkie has not changed his position,” Romano told his YouTube channel. “The interest is there from Premier League clubs, Man Utd… Erik ten Hag is a big fan.

“But not only [United]. Last summer Chelsea were interested in De Jong and many other clubs have [monitored] the player, he’s a fantastic midfielder.

“But at the moment De Jong has not changed his position. He loves Barcelona, he loves the club, he loves the city.

“He has a great relationship with Xavi and he’s playing, the new system is helping him.

He continued: “Clubs have interest in Frenkie, but Frenkie has no interest in moving. At the moment, the situation is completely quiet and his plan is to stay at Barcelona.”

Man Utd linked again

The 25-year-old was highlighted as the key target for Man Utd last summer, but despite the links, he ended up remaining with his Barcelona.

At the time it was thought that the Red Devils managed to agree on a fee with Barca, some £75 million including add-ons, as per the Athletic.

But De Jong did not budge and opted to remain at the Nou Camp and fight for his place.

Man Utd instead moved for Casemiro from Barca’s bitter rivals Real Madrid, who has done tremendously well since coming into the side.

But the Premier League giants are still very much in for a midfielder in the upcoming transfer window, and they are expected to splash big cash on bringing in new talent for the centre of the park.
