Kylian Mbappe has reached contract agreements to sign with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, according to the France striker’s mother.

Mbappe's future has been the subject of building speculation for more than a year. Out of contract with PSG at the end of June, he had been widely expected to sign for Real Madrid.

REVEALED: The world's most valuable footballers

Recent days have seen growing uncertainty over where he will play next season, despite news breaking from Madrid that he had agreed a contract with Los Blancos.

It was stressed that the deal had not been signed, but there appeared a sense of inevitability over the transfer taking place only for doubts to emanate from Spain.

Indeed, it turns out that Mbappe actually has two contracts lined up ahead of his decision, which he is expected to take on Sunday.

“We have an agreement with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Kylian will now decide,” Fayza Lamari, Mbappe''s mother, told Kora Plus.

“The two offers from PSG and Real Madrid are almost identical. It’s up to Kylian now - he will make a decision.”

Down to Mbappe now

The situation explains why there is quite so much uncertainty over Mbappe's next move, with both clubs apparently in the dark over which direction he might take.

Nevertheless, everything is now in the hands of the footballer.

“We will not have any further meetings to discuss Mbappe’s future, these meetings are now over,” Lamari said.

Mbappe has emerged as PSG’s undoubted star this season, despite playing alongside Neymar and seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi. He leads Ligue 1 in both goals and assists heading into the final day of the season, in which his side will face Metz in what is potentially his final game at Parc des Princes as a home player.
