WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?

And the Daily Mail reports that Haaland and his entourage of agent Mino Raiola and father Alf Inge Haaland have opted for Man City over Real Madrid and Barcelona.

EUROPEAN GOLDEN SHOE 2021-22

Haaland is set to leave Dortmund at the end of the season when his €75 million release clause is activated. The Mail claims that Man City will pay this clause in full.

Virtually every top club in Europe is interested in signing the 21-year-old, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG.

But it is Real Madrid, Man City and Barcelona who have for some time been in the lead for his signature.

Both Madrid and Barcelona have held talks with Haaland, with Barcelona manager Xavi even meeting the player in Munich last month.

FootballTransfers understands that Barcelona recently pulled out of the race in order to focus on signing Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, leaving it a two-horse race for Haaland between Madrid and City.

But it is Man City who may have now beaten Madrid to the punch.

Pep Guardiola has been searching for a world-class number nine for some time now and unsuccessfully attempted to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane last summer.

Haaland has enjoyed two brilliant years at Dortmund since joining from Salzburg in January 2020.

He has scored 82 goals in just 85 games for the club, although he has suffered a number of injuries this season.
