Alexis Sanchez could be set for a return to the Premier League as Everton are looking into the possibility of signing the Chilean from Italian giants Inter.

Sanchez played for Udinese and then Barcelona between 2011 and 2014, making 141 appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring 46 goals and recording 35 assists.

He would subsequently move to Arsenal where he enjoyed success, but his career started to go downhill after an ill-fated move to Manchester United.

In 32 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils he scored just three goals, and as he was on gargantuan wages at the time, scathing criticism soon followed.

Sanchez would then join Inter on loan and then on a permanent basis, but has never been a key player and was initially behind Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez in the pecking order at San Siro, while Edin Dzeko plays more than him now.

In the 2021/22 campaign in Italy, he has started just three Serie A matches, though does have two goals and two assists in his 12 overall appearances.

He is a high-earner at San Siro, and as Inter aren't in a particularly healthy position financially, they would be willing to let him leave on a free transfer in the January transfer window.

According to the Sun, Everton have been offered the opportunity to sign Sanchez this month.

Rafa Benitez is reportedly seriously considering a move for Sanchez if either Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison are sold in January.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with Arsenal, while Richarlison is interesting Paris Saint-Germain.

Who have Everton signed in January?

Everton have already completed two signings in the current window.

Benitez has targeted his full-back spots are positions that need strengthening, as he has already brought in Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamko Kyiv for €19 million, while Scotland international right-back Nathan Paterson has arrived from Rangers for around €12m.

In terms of outgoings, Lucas Digne is expected to leave the club this month after falling out with Benitez.
