When does the January transfer window open and close?

Real Madrid have bid €160m for PSG's Kylian Mbappe

The January transfer window is often portrayed as a lesser version of the fireworks and drama that dominate the summer window, but that simply isn’t the case.

Whether it be a pre-signed contract agreement that takes one superstar from one European giant to another or a club with more money than sense panic buying in the dark days of winter, the January window is often the stage for plenty of intrigue and entertainment.

Considering the manner in which a number of clubs decided to keep their powder dry over the summer before fans got back into the stadiums this season, it seems almost certain that more clubs will be looking to cash in on season ticket sales and the return of regular income.

So when does the 2022 January transfer market open in Europe's big five leagues and when will it shut its doors?
