‘He is doing a good job’ – Barcelona won’t sack Koeman
Barcelona’s interim president Carles Tusquets insists that he will not be sacking coach Ronald Koeman, despite the club’s disastrous start to the season.
The Blaugrana have endured their worst start to a domestic campaign for over 30 years and currently find themselves out of the Champions League places and well off the pace at the top of La Liga.
Koeman has been under increased pressure in December after costly back-to-back defeats against Cadiz and Juventus, the latter of which was a humiliating 3-0 home loss that saw Barca relinquish top spot in their Champions League group.
Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Valencia only increased this pressure further but Barca’s interim president has given Koeman the vote of confidence.
“I won’t be sacking anybody,” Tusquets told Deportes Cuatro.
“Koeman is doing a good job, showing fine judgement. He has my support.”
Barcelona’s next game is against relegation-threatened Real Valladolid on Tuesday, a match that Koeman will be desperate to win in order to calm the troubled waters over Christmas.
