Barcelona target Wijnaldum coy on Liverpool contract talks

Georginio Wijnaldum has swatted aside questions over his future, insisting he ‘cannot say anything’ about talks over a new Liverpool contract.

The Dutchman is into the final year of his Reds deal and will be free to speak with other clubs from January.

Should it come to that, Barca are sure to head the queue, with Ronald Koeman having been on linking up with a player who was a key cog in his Netherlands team over the summer.

However, when asked this week whether he might in fact go on to pen fresh terms at Anfield, Wijnaldum was giving nothing away.

  • “I can’t say anything about that,” he told Het Perool.

“Just ask Liverpool those questions. Don’t they answer?

“I cannot say anything about it, including whether or not there is talk of a new contract between me and Liverpool. Sorry.”
