Sheikh Jassim could bring Ronaldo BACK to Old Trafford

Manchester United could bring back some of its legends if the takeover is completed by the Qatari group headed by Sheikh Jassim.

The billionaire, who is vying for a full takeover of the Red Devils, has detailed plans to shape up the club’s hierarchy if he does end up in total control.

A report from ESPN states that Sheikh Jassim is ‘determined to address to ensure that the club takes advantage of the profile and experience of former greats’, in a move that will see some of the current executives move on and some of the best-known and well-loved former players come into the fold.

It is thought that such a move would open the door for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, among other top names who played during the Sir Alex Ferguson years.

It may even see some of their 1999 Treble winners, including the "Class of 92" group that includes Gary Neville, David Beckham, and Paul Scholes as figures behind the scenes, in a bid to bring back the winning ethos to the side.

It comes after the news that the Qatari group are considered to be the preferred bidder of the club, with Ineos billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe another strong contender.

Summer transfer window looms

Sheikh Jassim is said to be keen on a full takeover at 100 per cent while Ratcliffe’s bid would allow the Glazers to retain a stake in the club, with the Nice owner getting 50 per cent of the club and the American family receiving a 40 per cent take between them.

The decision is still yet to be determined by the Glazers, and there are genuine fears that the delay could impede the club’s upcoming summer transfer window.

At this stage, it looks as though a decision on a new owner may not arrive until the season has finished.
