Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar looks set to finally join Paris Saint-Germain after verbally agreeing a move to the Ligue 1 giants this summer.

Skriniar, 27, was PSG's number one defensive target last year, but they were priced out of a move by Inter, who wanted more than PSG's €55 million offer for the Slovakian international, despite the fact he had just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Now, the player has refused to sign a new deal at San Siro and is set to leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.

Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing Skriniar, with the Reds keen to add more defensive depth to their roster.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also previously been interested in Skriniar, but it appears that PSG have won the race to sign him.

L'Equipe have reported that Skriniar has verbally agreed to join PSG on a free transfer this summer, with the player wishing to leave Inter after six years since joining from Sampdoria.

A move for Skriniar in January could also be on the cards, if those in charge at Inter wish to recoup some of the €34m transfer fee they spent on him back in 2017. PSG reportedly have €15m at their disposal if they want to purchase Skriniar now, rather than wait until the summer.

Skriniar will provide competition for Nordi Mukiele, Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos at PSG should a move be officially completed this summer.

Liverpool to miss out on Skriniar

Following news of Virgil van Dijk's injury, reports emerged that Liverpool were ready to step up their efforts to sign Skriniar this month to combat the absence of the Dutchman.

However, it was reported that Inter would only accept an offer of €40m for the Slovakian, despite the fact he's available for free in just six months time.

But, the decision has seemingly been taken out of Liverpool's hands with news that Skriniar has agreed to finally join PSG after months of speculation.
