Alexis Mac Allister has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs following the January transfer window.

The midfielder has caught the attention of some of the elite sides in the league following his stellar World Cup-winning campaign in Qatar.

Brighton would be reluctant to sell, and they will also have a round of proposals on the table for Moises Caicedo to contend with first. But if the right offer comes in, their hand might be forced.

Furthermore, on Monday, Matteo Moretto of Relevo fanned the flames over a possible departure when he tweeted that Mac Allister is set to leave Brighton in the summer and that several clubs asked in January - with Liverpool among them.

As such, here we rank some of the most suitable clubs that Mac Allister could be heading to, if he was to leave the Amex Stadium, from least to most.

5 - Chelsea

Chelsea may like the Argentine connection with him and Enzo Fernandez, who joined in January for a British-record fee. They will also be attracted to the fact that Mac Allister is Premier League-proven. They face the task of getting rid of some of the players who are surplus to requirements before making any big money move, though. And it would be fair to assume Brighton may be reluctant to do another piece of business with them.

4 -Man City

Man City up in the air with the transfer situation but he’s technically good enough for a Pep Guardiola side. Mac Allister may have the same amount of guaranteed football as elsewhere though - and a lot could depend on whether Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva end up departing the side. There has been murmurs that Man City may look to do an overhaul.

3 -Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham remains a target for Real Madrid. The English star has admiration from some of the biggest clubs in Europe though. And should they fail to bring in the midfielder, they could opt to make move a move for Mac Allister, who would represent a cheaper option as well.

4 - Newcastle

Newcastle still like James Maddison following their failed bids for the attacker last summer.

But he will not be short of suitors. Mac Allister gives them an attacking impetus in the middle that would be a huge attraction. Their project is an exciting one but the Magpies would be putting all their eggs in one basket if they were to launch a bid.

Can Dan Ashworth use his Brighton connections to pull some strings? It’s not a deal many Magpies fans would say no to either.

This year for them has not gone as well as last and there is definitely a need for added quality in the summer when they will be looking to spend a bit more.

5 - Liverpool

Again a lot depends on Bellingham. The club also like Chelsea’s Mason Mount so it would be if their pursuit of him falters as well. Mac Allister would be ready-made and certainly ticks a lot of boxes for Jurgen Klopp and the Reds.

Like Man City, there are plans for a big overhaul so we can expect to see a fair number of fresh faces through the door at Anfield. Mac Allister would be a viable option.
