Everton and Crystal Palace are monitoring Leicester City’s Kasey McAteer, FootballTransfers can reveal.

The Toffees are in the market for a winger in the January window and are now targeting the 22-year-old. The Foxes are hopeful of tying the attacker down to another deal, with his current terms up in 2025, but we are told that Everton and other Premier League clubs are considering a move for the youngster. Palace, meanwhile, are looking for a versatile attacker who can play on both flanks and believe that McAteer can fit the bill.

Sources have informed us that Everton's league position will be a factor in any decision that McAteer makes. His ambition is to be in the Premier League and does not wish to sign for a club that could drop back down to the Championship. McAteer is also enjoying his time at Leicester during their push for promotion and it's thought that any move may be made in the summer transfer window instead of halfway through the season.

McAteer came up through the ranks of the Leicester City academy before landing his first team debut in the 2021-22 season. Following loan spells with Forest Green Rovers and AFC Wimbledon, he has become a crucial member of the side this term, netting five goals in nine Championship appearances.

It comes after Sean Dyche's comments following his side’s 3-0 loss to Manchester United in which he called on his players to start rewarding the fans with 'winning performances'.

Everton fans protested the severity of their 10-point deduction after they were found guilty of breaching profit and sustainability rules during the game against the Red Devils.

What did Sean Dyche say about the Everton protests?

"The fans were brilliant," he told evertontv. "There is a lot going on for them to take. We all know the feeling around football, not just ourselves and our fans but the feeling across the wider game of how unjust it all is.

"We have to keep rewarding the fans with good performances and winning performances. That will be the focus going forward."

“Even 3-0 down, the team hit the bar, we were still asking questions and trying to take the game on. So the mentality is firm and it's got to remain firm going forward, quite obviously.

"It's a big knock. But the fans have been brilliant since I got here, especially recently. We have rewarded them with some good points, albeit with the caveat of what has happened [points deduction].

"Compared to recent seasons, there have been some good points put on the board early in the season, with good performances. We have to keep doing that. I don't expect a free hit now because of what has gone on."
