Now that Ruben Amorim has left Manchester United, there is an increased chance that Marcus Rashford may indeed have a future at Old Trafford.

The England forward has been at Man Utd since he was a child and broke through into the United first-team under Louis van Gaal.

He displayed moments of true brilliant as when he was in the mood, he used his pace, running power and finishing to be near-unstoppable.

However, his form over the last few seasons went off a cliff and he eventually fell out of favour with head coach Amorim, who left him out the squad for a Manchester derby which the Red Devils went on to win.

Rashford secured a dream loan move to Barcelona and it seems a weight has been lifted from his shoulders as he looks like the Rashford of old with seven goals and 11 assists in the first half of the campaign.

He is desperate to stay at Camp Nou and has confirmed that's indeed his plan, but a permanent transfer has to be agreed with Man Utd.

Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes Rashford may be more open to an Old Trafford return now Amorim has departed.

"I hope that Marcus comes back because he’s a special player," he said on TNT Sports.

"I don’t know what happened between Marcus and Ruben, but I don’t think there’s any denying his talent.

"I don’t think Marcus should’ve been in a position where he shouldered all the weight for everything In our team, he would’ve been the third or fourth guy, so he wouldn’t have to bare all the responsibility because a lot of that would’ve been taken off his shoulders.

"There was too much emphasis on these young guys to be the main man, and they should never have found themselves in that position at just 20 years of age. They needed a striker who was 26-28 years old and then the youngsters could have learned the ropes like everyone did previously at the club. I think Marcus is a super talent and the club could use him."

Rashford desperate to stay at Barcelona

The player himself has continually said this season his desire is to sig for Barca permanently.

“Of course, what I want is to stay at Barça,” Rashford told SPORT. “It's the ultimate goal, but it's not the reason I'm training hard and giving my all. The purpose is to win. Barça is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles.

“There is pressure here, but it's not negative pressure; it's the kind you crave as a player, the kind I want and have always wanted as a footballer.

“I can't be in a place where there aren't high expectations; for me, it's harder to stay motivated and give my best at a club where the demands aren't at their peak. I'm in the perfect place and environment to continue my journey as a footballer, so I'm just trying to give my best every day and help the team win. We'll see what happens next summer.”
