Neymar has been advised to sign for Arsenal this summer if he leaves PSG, with Gunners legend Emmanuel Petit telling the Brazil international he would “love it” at the Emirates Stadium.

The future of the world’s most expensive player at Parc des Princes is distinctly uncertain.

PSG would like to offload the 31-year-old, yet his sizeable wages are set to be a significant impediment to getting a deal done.

Manchester United have been linked with the player, who reportedly left PSG’s end of season party early, but Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit, who won the 1997/98 Premier League title with the north London side, feels that Neymar should move to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Speaking to Genting Casino, the 1998 World Cup winner said: "I think Neymar will suit any big club. If he comes to Arsenal, I would love it and I think he will too. I think he will enjoy the technical football and the style of Arsenal. He would love to play with younger players as he is quite mature himself.‌

"If he goes to Man Utd, I will be very happy for them and the Premier League. They have Rashford and Sancho who can man both wings, but also have the skills to rotate so Neymar can easily fit into that cycle."

Why clubs are worried about Neymar signing

According to reports in France, Neymar’s injury history is one of the major reasons why PSG are struggling to sell him.

“Neymar is under contract until 2027 and he earns €30m a year. To leave, he must find a club that offers him as much in salary. At this rate, only the Premier League can match that. Neymar is a player who still makes people dream but his absences sow doubt,” Le Parisien reports.

Despite Petit’s words, Arsenal’s transfer policy has focused on younger players, so a big-money move for Neymar appears unlikely.
