Richarlison transfer takes dramatic twist after Everton move collapses

Tottenham striker Richarlison is now expected to stay with Roberto De Zerbi’s club after it appeared he would leave for Everton.

The Brazil international had been set to join the Toffees in a deal that would have seen Iliman Ndiaye travel in the opposite direction.

This prospective deal, however, collapsed as Manchester City hijacked the move for the winger, thwarting the forward’s potential exit.

Although his future was placed under threat, it now appears that Richarlison will remain at Spurs, with Sky Sports reporting that no deal is forecast that will see him leave.

However, he is warned his opportunities are likely to be “limited” thanks to the arrival of Omar Marmoush, who will occupy the centre-forward role thanks to the forthcoming arrival of Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea to play on the left.

Richarlison: I won’t be forced out of Tottenham

Richarlison had issued a strongly worded statement via his social media that he would not be forced out of the club.

Posting on Instagram stories, he said: “After everything I’ve been through in the last few years, I’ve decided that never again will anyone decide my future for me.

“I went through a lot of bad things, and almost all of them happened because decisions were made by other people. Pressure, threats, retaliation – none of that scares me. I’ve been through far worse, believe me.

“I’ve always made it clear, every time I had the chance, that leaving for another club would only happen if it was also good for the club. If it wasn’t, I would never accept it. Just like I didn’t accept it when everything was going badly and they needed me.

“I stayed and gave everything. So, I hope they treat my situation with the same respect I’ve always shown Spurs and everyone who worked with me during this period. Just don’t try to decide for me.

“If they reach an agreement between Spurs and Everton, I will return to my beloved club. My intention was to go back to the place where I was very happy, yes, but the negotiations happened only in the way certain people wanted, and it will no longer be like that.

“Despite all this turmoil, I am under contract at Spurs and will remain at the club’s disposal.”

Tottenham’s three Deadline Day moves

Spurs are in the midst of a busy Deadline Day. As well as Mudryk, the London side are poised to complete a deal that will see them sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea for around £7 million.

On top of this, they are expected to allow Kevin Danso to depart on loan to Premier League rivals Sunderland in a surprise move.
