Chelsea Transfer News Today: Jamie Gittens surprise as four deals close
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Jamie Gittens, Francisco Conceicao and Dario Essugo.
Gittens bid rejected
Chelsea have rejected a bid from AS Roma for Jamie Gittens, according to Sky Sports.
The Serie A giants have been linked with the winger for some time, but recent reports have made it pretty clear that a move would be a longshot. Nevertheless, Roma tested the waters with a loan offer with an option to purchase Gittens next summer.
Chelsea rebuffed the approach and reiterated that the England youth international is not available this summer, regardless of the formula presented by suitors. Neither loan nor permanent offers will be considered.
Conceicao to replace Neto?
Pedro Neto, on the other hand, could still depart Chelsea before the deadline, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.
In fact, the Italian outlet claims that a move to Al-Hilal is close, with his agent Jorge Mendes pushing for the transfer. Personal terms are believed to be in place, but a fee still has to be agreed with Chelsea, who want more than €100 million for the Portugal international.
Simultaneously, Mendes is trying to move Francisco Conceicao to Chelsea as a Neto replacement. The winger would prefer to stay at Juventus, but the Serie A giants have struggled to sell their unwanted players this summer and need the money. Conceicao could cost around €40m.
More Strasbourg deals
Chelsea will move more players to Strasbourg after already loaning Filip Jorgensen and Genesis Antwi to their sister club.
Deivid Washington will join on a deal believed to be worth roughly €10m, while there are also still ongoing talks over a permanent transfer of Omari Kellyman.
Dario Essugo, meanwhile, could join on loan. The BBC reports that the Portuguese midfielder is a "strong contender" to fill Strasbourg's last available Chelsea loan spot, though there is also Premier League interest.
Pedro deal confirmed
Chelsea have confirmed that forward Joao Pedro has signed a new contract - despite only joining last summer.
The Brazil international has put pen to paper on fresh terms until 2034, with the Blues keen to reward the impressive form of his first season with a pay increase. At the same time, Chelsea also wanted to send a clear message to potential suitors that he is going nowhere.
Earlier this summer, Barcelona were sniffing around Pedro in their search for a new striker, while there have also been sensational but brief and unlikely links with Premier League rivals, chiefly Arsenal. Chelsea have insisted all summer that Pedro isn't for sale at any price.
