Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Danny Welbeck from Brighton on a two-year contract.

'When you hear of the interest from Chelsea, it's something that fills you with such immense pride," Welbeck said. "Knowing the history of Chelsea, it's a club that wants to win trophies and is pushing to do that every single season.

"I’m really honoured to come to a club of this stature at what feels like a really exciting time. I know a few of the boys already and I’ve had fantastic conversations with the manager and already feel that connection.

"I’ve got that fire in my belly and I'm ready to give it everything for this club to make everyone at Chelsea, and the supporters, proud.'

Como improve Chalobah offer

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Como have made a fresh offer for Trevoh Chalobah, while Benoit Badiashile could also leave to join Napoli.

Romano said: "Como have returned for Trevoh Chalobah with a new offer worth €30m guaranteed. Previous bids of €25m plus €5m in add-ons were rejected. Now they have structured the deal so Chelsea are guaranteed €30 million, even if a very small portion is technically listed as add-ons.

"Como believe this is the best proposal possible at this stage of the market and hope Chelsea will now approve the transfer so Chalobah can complete his medical and sign his contract. Chalobah already has an agreement with Como worth €4 million net per season. The contract is ready and the player wants to move to Italy. Everything is agreed on the player's side and now they are waiting for Chelsea.

"Benoit Badiashile is another player who could leave Chelsea in the coming days or weeks. There is interest from France and Italy. Napoli have Badiashile on their shortlist after Alessandro Buongiorno suffered an injury.”

Pedro set for new contract

Chelsea are set to offer Joao Pedro a new contract after his impressive first season at the club, amid transfer links to Barcelona this summer.

Pedro joined from Brighton last year for €63 million and scored 15 Premier League goals during his debut campaign, which has led to interest from Barcelona among other sides.

However, Chelsea shut down talks of Pedro leaving this summer and, according to The Athletic, the club are now ready to reward the 24-year-old with improved terms and an extension until 2033.

Pedro still has six years remaining on his current contract and is understood to be settled and happy at the club, with no desire to leave this summer even with Chelsea missing out on European football.

Chelsea re-open Chavarria talks

Chelsea are ready to return to Rayo with a new offer for Pep Chavarria after talks for the left-back stalled in recent weeks.

Chavarria has emerged as Xabi Alonso’s preferred target to replace the departed Marc Cucurella but Rayo have rejected a number of bids from the Blues of around €18m.

Although there was talk of Chelsea raising their offer to €25m, Rayo are thought to be holding out for Chavarria’s €50m release clause, which brought talks to a grinding halt.

However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea have improved their bid and negotiations are ‘moving forward’, giving optimism that a deal can be reached.

Alonso speaks out over Mudryk future.

Xabi Alonso has expressed his delight at Mykhailo Mudryk being cleared to return to football after having his four-year ban overturned this week but admits he is unclear over what the future holds for the winger.

“To be honest, we were not expecting to have this great news at this moment, so we are very happy. We feel that he will be working with us,” Alono said.

“We want that he feels part of a team, because he has been training on his own for a long time, and that we have the support from everyone, from the club, from the team-mates, from the staff, and for sure, it will take time. Once he is with us, we will see how things develop.

When asked whether Mudryk would be loaned out to affiliate club Strasbourg, Alonso said: “We need to see. It’s too early to tell, to see how he is in terms of fitness, in terms of this game time that you need to be involved again, so it's still too early to tell. It will take time. For him it's a massive change.”
